Equity Partnerships

Equity is essential to preservation. Our Community Partnerships grants fund programs and projects led by, or co-created with, historically excluded communities. These grants prioritize justice, inclusion, and belonging while strengthening relationships between parks and the people they serve. The goal: ensure all Californians can access and benefit from state parks.

By investing in community-driven projects, we’re helping reshape how state parks reflect and serve the diversity of California. From cultural restoration and environmental education to stewardship and access improvements, these grants elevate local voices and support shared decision-making. They recognize that when communities see themselves reflected in parks—through stories, programming, and leadership—preservation becomes more meaningful and enduring. Equity isn’t a separate goal; it’s the foundation that ensures our parks truly belong to everyone.
