*Climate change disproportionately affects low income communities and communities of color. To address the disproportionate environmental hazard risk to these communities we encourage applicants to work collaboratively with organizations and leaders within these communities to address the issue of climate resiliency and preparedness.   

  

FAQ   

  • Can an organization that has received funding from California State Parks Foundation on a past grant apply?  Yes, all past grantees are welcome to apply.   

  • Is the proposed program or project required to benefit a California state park?  Yes, all programs or projects must benefit one or more California state parks.   

  • What organizations are eligible to apply?  Organizations in a contractual relationship with CA Department of Parks and Recreation: Cooperating Associations, and Concessions Non-profit Park Partners. Government Organizations: CA cities and special districts, CA county governments, CA state government agencies, Native American tribal governments (federally recognized), and Native American tribal governments (other than federally recognized). Education Organizations: Independent school districts, Public and state-controlled institutions of higher education, Private institutions of higher education. Nonprofit Organizations: Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS  

  • Are grants limited to California state parks affected by wildfires? No, this grant round is open to all California state parks impacted by climate change.  

  • What is the amount to be awarded? Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded.    

  • Will a letter of support from the California Department of Parks and Recreation be required? A letter of support from the California Department of Parks and Recreation District Superintendent is not required at the time of submitting your application. However, you are highly encouraged to show that you have engaged in communication and a possible partnership with park staff and may be required to submit a letter of support from them at the time of the award.  

  • When will applicants be notified if they have been selected? Applicants will be notified if applications have been awarded or declined by January 31, 2021.
