5 Ways to Celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month

Published: July 6, 2021

Each year, hundreds of volunteers come together across the state of California to champion California state parks. These amazing individuals freely give up their free time and weekends to make sure our state parks stay beautiful, healthy, and well maintained. Even with the challenges of the past year and the uptick in use due to COVID-19 and stay-at-home restrictions, our volunteers continued to put in the work to make sure our parks survived.

This July, we are celebrating these dedicated park champions and all of the work they do to make sure our parks are protected now and for generations to come. We hope you will join us in honoring these amazing individuals and all their work. Here are 5 ways you can help celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month with us:

  1. Thank your local volunteers! Show our volunteers you appreciate them and the work they do to help maintain California state parks. Click here to share your thanks on social media! Be sure to tag @calparks on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

  1. Keep an eye out for our weekly volunteer features on the California State Parks Foundation Blog. This month we will be featuring a story, workday, and more on our blog to celebrate the amazing impact our volunteers have on California state parks.

  1. Amplify our volunteer content on social media. Follow @calparks on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to see unique content weekly on our volunteer program and the impact it has had over the years. You can increase the love by sharing, comment, and reposting!

  1. Share your volunteer story! Have you volunteered with California State Parks Foundation? We would love to hear story. Use the hashtag #CalParksVolunteer to share your volunteer story with us. Photos encouraged!

  1. Join a volunteer workday near you! The best way to celebrate our volunteers is to join them. Find a workday near you and see what all the excitement is about firsthand.
