This bill makes it the policy of the state of California that all Californians have safe and affordable access to nature and access to the benefits of nature when making budget and infrastructure decisions.

Position Statement

California State Parks Foundation has long held that access to nature is an essential need for every Californian. Our parks — mountains, lakes, beaches, rivers, and deserts — provide spaces that support mental and physical health, time with loved ones, and other essential experiences. Indeed, recent polling indicates that 85 percent of Californians say that visiting state parks and beaches are an important part of everyday life. Low income people are more likely to encounter barriers to visiting parks, like entry fees or lack of transportation.
