 As California policymakers head into another tough budget year they will be considering making additional cuts to the state park budget. As they begin to make these budget decisions, it is important that legislators see the strong support Californians have for their irreplaceable state parks and the value that state parks have in the lives of individuals, families and businesses throughout the state.
One of the best ways to show support for state parks is to go out and visit them!
That is why we are inviting you to join us for our Stand up for State Parks Weekend of Action, which will bring state park supporters (like you!) together in parks and online to raise awareness and generate public action for the protection and funding of California's state parks. There is no better time to Stand Up For State Parks than the unofficial start of summer, Memorial Day weekend (May 29-31).
Participation in the Stand up For State Parks Weekend of Action event is fun and easy - we've boiled it down to three easy steps!
Step One: Visit a State Park!
Kick off summer by spending some time at a state park! There are 278 state parks to choose from - each providing avenues for different opportunities. Whether you go for a nature walk, relax at a state beach, enjoy a picnic with your family or take a tour of a state historic park is up to you!

Step Two: Take a Picture!
Document your participation in the weekend of action by taking a picture. You can download a Save Our State Parks poster to hold - or make your own!
Step Three: Share Your Experience!
Once you've had a chance to enjoy California's state parks - share your experience with others! Be sure to upload your Stand Up For State Parks picture to our website.
Don't forget to tell your friends, your family and your co-workers that you participated in the Stand up For State Parks Weekend of Action!
