The SOS Campaign held "I ♥ State Parks" weekends to bring state park supporters together – in state parks, around their communities, and online. Due to the recent budget cuts to the Department of Park and Recreation—plus the continuing state furloughs and other park-related budget reductions—100 state parks are estimated to close after Labor Day. The "I ♥ State Parks" weekends of action encouraged Californians to come out in force and show their support for state parks and opposition to park closures. What happened at the "I ♥ State Parks" events? On these weekends, park supporters came out to state parks (or even some non-park locations) to show their support for our parks, by signing messages on green hearts that collected and will share with policy leaders after Labor Day.
What if I can't attend a park event, or there isn't one in my area? Print out a poster by downloading it here and hang it in your car, your office or at home. How can I get more information?
