August 18, 2011

It was just another regular commute to San Francisco the
other morning--spectacularly beautiful! The fog was blasting through the gate,
the foghorns were wailing and I began to reminisce about the previous 52 WBBC
entries. Why the nostalgia? Well, we’re putting this blog on the back burner
for a while. Moving forward we are concentrating on the challenge before us as state
parks begin to close.
The WBBC isn’t completely retiring. When amazing things
happen during the bike commute, you’ll be reading about them right here. But,
for now, keep on eye out for our new regular Thursday blog: CalPark
Voices--Stories from California’s State Parks (premiering next week!).
As I rode off in to the fog and the sunset last night, I mused
over the many memorable moments for the WBBC. There was the attack of the giant
Dungeness crab on the Golden Gate
Bridge…the Van Bo concert…and,
of course, the day I set the land speed record for the WBBC. This and much more
is captured
here on the blog’s anniversary interview video from April.
So this is hasta luego, but not good-bye. Check in with
CalPark Voices, and let us know how we are doing. And remember, everything is
better on a bike.
