Summer
Thank goodness summer has finally arrived. I believe this June was the wettest and coolest on record! The Summer Solstice came, more daylight prevailed, temperatures rose and the rain clouds went away (for now!). It makes for much better bike riding. That, and my tomatoes can finally have a life.
Fog
And now that summer is officially here, you all might remember that I have a thing for fog. I love it. It defines much of coastal California during our fantastic Mediterranean climate summers. It keeps us cool when just inland the mercury can reach 100° or higher in the summer. I had a classic commute ride recently—fog so thick across the GGB it was like pea soup! And, it sounded like this:

Park Biking Memories
As you know (or you ought to know) California’s state parks are on the budget chopping block, and 70 parks are slated for closure by July 1, 2012. This is an unprecedented plan that threatens not just those parks on the list, but the future of the entire state park system. And it’s certainly sad for bikers like you and me who love exploring California’s magnificent parks on two wheels. In fact, I'd love to have you share your favorite state park biking memory and a photo of the park that means the most to you. Like Henry Coe State Park—ever been mountain biking there? Fantastic.

So please send us a state park biking memory. What state parks are you planning to visit this summer?
