Park Champions Program

Thank you for your interest in CSPF’s Park Champions Program!  We are so glad you want to volunteer with us to improve the quality, safety and preservation of our state parks. To get involved, log in with your existing calparks account first, or simply choose the volunteer project that best suits you and an account will be created for you automatically. A member of our staff will be in touch with you via email to confirm and remind you of your assignment. Volunteer opportunities and sites will be continually added so check back often for new projects!

For those seeking a more in-depth, continued volunteer involvement, please contact Melissa at 213-748-7458 for information on becoming a core volunteer or crew leader. Both will complete training in advance of the project that will provide needed planning, project management skills and technical knowledge to motivate and train volunteers for work days throughout the year.

We would like to thank our Park Champions for their generous support.
Without their financial and volunteer contributions,
this program would not be possible:

To be a core volunteer, a certain minimum level of volunteer engagement is in order to be successful. Core volunteers will attend a 4-6 hour training session, participate in planning activities and be able to participate in the quarterly volunteer work days. The training session will give employees a chance to build on their planning, leadership and project management skills by preparing them to develop work-plans, recruit volunteers, schedule work days or assess resources.

Crew leaders will participate in 1-2 training sessions that will prepare them to lead other volunteers to accomplish the tasks identified for the volunteer work days. Crew leader trainings will focus on team motivational skills and project specific skills needed to manage untrained volunteer crews.
