California’s State Parks offer a variety of educational programs for kids and adults totaling millions of hours of programming. Last year more than 3 million people participated in an educational program at a state park making California State Parks second only to the public school system in the number of hours of educational programs offered.

CSPF’s education programs include the Packard Summer Learning Program – which provides learning opportunities for youth during the summer break; Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students (PORTS)– which provides tools for teachers to enhancement their science curriculum via videoconferencing; and FamCamp– a statewide initiative to give low-income youth and their families opportunities to experience camping in state parks.

Other programs include natural and cultural history field trips and demonstrations; environmental studies programs; environmental living programs; and Junior Ranger and Junior Lifeguard programs that teach youngsters about stewardship of park resources, water safety and aquatic natural history.
