CSPF Launches Podcast Series

Audio downloads featuring California's magnificent state parks now available online

Kentfield, CA – Using the latest technology to make California's treasures more accessible to the public, the California State Parks Foundation (CSPF) today announced the launch of its podcast series highlighting the diversity and beauty of California's state parks.

Through interviews, in-the-field recordings and music, the CSPF Podcast Series transports listeners to the parks. Experts share historical tales and educational information about the parks in a free, high-quality audio download.

"We are excited we are able to launch this new series and use cutting edge technology to share the fun and interesting stories about California's state parks," said Elizabeth Goldstein, CSPF President. "We encourage people to listen, enjoy and then go experience our wonderful state parks firsthand. CSPF's Podcast Series offers us an opportunity to reach a variety of audiences – from young listeners in classrooms to seasoned state park enthusiasts."

The CSPF Podcast Series began airing in January with a posting of a seven-minute episode on Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park, the original site of a town founded and run by freed black slaves. Each month CSPF will post a new episode online highlighting one of California's 278 state parks. February's podcast will feature Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, site of California's transformative first discovery of gold. March's podcast will cover Año Nuevo State Reserve, famous for the annual visit of the northern elephant seal.

The audio is freely available on the CSPF Website and at the iTunes store.

A podcast is audio content that is automatically delivered over a network via free subscription. Once subscribed to, podcasts can be regularly distributed over the Internet and accessed with either PCs or Mac computers.
