Angel Island Immigration Station

During its operation from 1910-1940 nearly a million people from some 90 different countries passed through the Angel Island Immigration Station in the middle of San Francisco Bay. The largest emigrant group was the Chinese, who numbered around 175,000. In early 2009 this history-packed site will reopen to the public after an extensive renovation.
